Hello!
My name is Nick Fallows and I am an English language teacher presently working in Dubai in the UAE. I started to make this site as an assignment for a Masters degree in Educational Technology I am undertaking from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia.

From 1993 to 1995 I spent two and a half years in Sri Lanka working for a small NGO in the south of the Island through the British organisation Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). My posting was to a small village where only one or two people spoke English and through interest and necessity I started to learn spoken Sinhala. I say spoken Sinhala as although I know most of the letters in the Sinhala script I can neither read nor write the language. Indeed the written form is very different from the spoken language.

I met my wife Nishanthi during my time in Sri Lanka and she has done most of the recordings and all of the checking. This site is the product of both our work and without her it would not exist - thanks Nishanthi! We have a daughter, Oshani who was born in Galle in 1998 and a son, Ramithu also born in Galle, in 2003.
